The Mission

At Northland Therapeutic Riding Center, we believe in the extraordinary power of horses to heal, empower, and inspire. Since our founding in 2000, we've been a place where children, teens, and adults with physical, emotional, and behavioral special needs come to discover strength, build confidence, and find joy through meaningful connections with horses.

Nestled on 32 beautiful acres in Holt, Missouri, just north of Kansas City, our center provides a safe and nurturing space where barriers are broken, milestones are celebrated, and every small victory matters. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Mark and Margret Frankcom of the Frankcom Family Trust, NTRC found its forever home in 2016, ensuring we can continue serving our community for generations to come.

As a PATH Premier Accredited Riding Center, we are proud to offer year-round equine-assisted programs, carefully crafted to meet the unique needs of each participant. With the dedication of our certified instructors, passionate volunteers, and a herd of 12 incredible therapy horses, we serve 85-90 riders per session, offering both mounted and unmounted classes focused on growth, healing, and connection.

At NTRC, every ride is a step toward possibility, every interaction is a moment of trust, and every horse is a partner in transformation.

Together, we’re creating a space where challenges are met with courage, and lives are forever changed—one hoofbeat at a time.
