1. What types of diagnoses do you work with?

We serve individuals with a wide range of diagnoses, including but not limited to:

  • Autism

  • Muscular Dystrophy

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Down Syndrome

  • Mental Health Challenges

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Cognitive Disorders

2. Do riders need to have prior horseback riding experience?

No! Absolutely no riding experience is required to join our therapeutic riding sessions. Our PATH Intl. certified instructors and trained volunteers will guide you every step of the way.

3. Are there age limits for participants?

All riders over the age of 6 at the time of application are welcome!

4. Are there weight limits for riders?

Weight limits are determined based on the safety of our horses and participants. Please contact the center directly to discuss specific weight guidelines.

5. When do sessions start?

Sessions are scheduled throughout the year. Below are the key start dates for 2025:

  • Session 1: March 10th

  • Session 2: May 12th

  • Session 3: July 28th

  • Session 4: September 29th

6. How long do sessions last?

Our therapeutic riding sessions typically run in 8-week blocks, with weekly classes tailored to meet each participant's goals.

7. How much do classes cost?

We believe therapeutic riding should be accessible to everyone. Here's how costs break down:

  • Many participants utilize financial assistance programs or disability benefits, which allow them to pay less than $15 per class.

  • For those without coverage, we offer a self-pay rate of under $50 per class.

Each lesson actually costs NTRC $250 per rider, but these costs are offset by generous sponsorships, grants, and donations from our supporters.

8. Are there scholarships or financial aid options available?

Yes, we strive to ensure no one is turned away due to financial barriers. Please contact us directly to learn more about financial aid options and available scholarships.

9. How do I enroll in a session?

10. Who leads the sessions?

All classes are led by PATH Intl. certified instructors who are trained to provide safe, compassionate, and effective therapeutic riding lessons.

11. Can family members watch the sessions?

Yes! We encourage family members to be present and cheer on their loved ones during sessions. We have designated areas for spectators.

12. What should participants wear to sessions?

Participants should wear:

  • Long pants (e.g., jeans or riding breeches)

  • Closed-toe shoes with a hard sole (preferably boots)

  • Helmet

13. Can family members volunteer at NTRC?

Absolutely! We rely on dedicated volunteers to support our programs. Family members are welcome to join our volunteer team.
